That’s because taking photos of deities, holy men and women, and other such notables is like trying to photograph the souls of dead men. However, the stipulations aren’t always black and white, and sometimes a person can get away with it.
What Religions Can’t Take Pictures?

Likewise, a camera is not a replacement for a temple’s clergy.
